Artist Insight: Pan Nation
Denver Brass is proud to welcome Pan Nation Steel Drums as our guest artists for Brass of the Caribbean, THIS WEEKEND, April 21, 7:30pm & April 22, 3:00pm at the acoustically outstanding Bethany Lutheran Church.
We are excited to have Pan Nation join us for this sizzling and exotic island-themed concert. Pan Nation represents a fresh and new approach to the steel drum band. The ensemble explores traditional and modern steel drum repertoire in-depth with the active involvement of its members as composers and soloists. The result of this experience is a unique, new sound for the steel drum ensemble that combines the traditional sounds of the Caribbean steel drum band with jazz, pop and other world rhythms.
Pan Nation's unique repertoire has been well received at concert performances throughout the Western United States as well as in their master classes, outreach events and innovative community programs. The group's debut recording, Altered Perception, is available on the Ramajay Records label, at www.ramajay.com. The band members who will be performing at Brass of the Caribbean include: Tom Miller (Double Second Pan), Andrew Neldon (Double Tenor Pan), Don Prorak (Double Second Pan), Michelle Brake (Cello Pan), Kim Bird (Bass) and Dean Oldencott (Drum Set).
Join us as together we transport you to clear blue waters, white sandy beaches and easy island living. You won't want to miss the combination of brass and steel drums on hot island tunes including Woodbrook Jam, Besame Mucho, and Bob Marley's Turn Your Lights Down Low, among many others!
