Sketches of Courage
Frank Xavier Hennessy was a soldier in the European Theater of WWII. His mission: document the war through first-hand accounts and hand-drawn sketches as a battlefield historian. His tour of duty took him from desolate battlefields to the liberated streets of Paris. Frank captured harrowing images of war in his sketch pad, as well as scenes of everyday life for the soldiers and civilians caught in the carnage. The world premiere of Sketches of Courage composed by Denver Brass’ own Sean Hennessy brings Frank’s images and stories to life with the soul-rending power of brass and percussion. This season finale concert will also feature inspiring tributes to veterans, first responders, and others who serve our country.

Echoes in Time
What if the stone walls of a cathedral held memories of all the music they had absorbed over the centuries? The sounds of a thousand voices echoing through time and creating harmony with the present would resonate through all those who enter; imbuing them with the eternal inspiration and joy of music. Denver Brass joins St. Martin’s Chamber Choir for a special collaboration that combines the soulfulness of voice with the raw power of brass. Let the sound envelop and surround you with the echoes of time with selections from Gabrieli to Queen.
St. Martin’s Chamber Choir: Founded in 1994 as Colorado’s only year-round, fully professional choir, St. Martin’s Chamber Choir has delighted Colorado audiences for more than 30 years with its exhilarating sound, its exquisite blend, and its fascinating repertoire, drawn from 1,000 years of choral music. Celtic Awakening
The ancient runes, hewn into the mossy boulders that dot Streedagh Beach in Ireland’s County Sligo have puzzled scientists and anthropologists for decades. Legends of their meaning have been passed down by word of mouth by the local villagers for generations. Some say the runes describe a story of a great sea beast that terrorized the village, some say they hold the recipe for a hearty and medicinal stew; but the mysteries of the runes have never been fully uncovered… until now. Denver Brass has decoded the forgotten language and unlocked the secrets of the ancient Celtic ritual they describe. To pull this off and divine the disembodied spirits of the elder druids, we will need some help from our friends at Celtics Steps Irish Dance, Rocky Mountain Highland Dancers, Celtic Colorado Pipes and Drums, and Irish Tenor Todd Teske. Join Denver Brass as we perform the sacred rites of Celtic Awakening.

Fat Tuesday Festa
The sun cracks through the haphazardly sealed curtains of your hotel window. Your vision comes into focus as the pounding in your head slowly but steadily increases in intensity. Your memories of Mardi Gras last night are hazy now; the places you saw, the strangers you toasted in the streets, the many, many (maybe too many) drinks you drank. One memory is clear though; Denver Brass and Festa Bateria kept the good times rolling all night long with red hot horns, blistering trumpet solos, and the infectious rhythms of New Orleans and Brazil.

This year, Denver Brass and organist Joseph Galema are showing our Resounding Gratitude for our beloved family of fans with a cornucopia overflowing with organ pipes, tiny trumpets, and heralding horns.
