Artist Insight: Joseph Galema
The Denver Brass is proud to welcome renowned Organist Joseph Galema as our guest artist for Brass & Organ: Surround Sound on November 18, 7:30pm & November 19, 3:00pm, at Bethany Lutheran Church. A long-time favorite guest artist, he has performed with us over a dozen times throughout our 37 years, and continues to dazzle audiences with his virtuostic organ playing every time!
Joseph Galema recently retired as Music Director and Academy Organist at the United States Air Force Academy, a position he held for nearly 32 years. He currently serves as Principal Organist at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, one of the largest and most active congregations in the city. He also serves on the faculty of the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, teaching organ repertoire, improvisation and accompanying. A critically-acclaimed organ soloist, he has toured throughout the United States, England, France, Scandinavia and the Baltic States. He has published multiple editions and arrangements of organ music and is featured on six professional recordings.
Bethany Lutheran Church also boasts a magnificent custom designed, hand crafted pipe organ built by the Schantz Organ Company. The exposed pipes, combined with the sanctuary’s excellent natural acoustics, allow the organ to fill the room effortlessly. Combined with our 14-piece brass ensemble, this collaboration truly allows you to “Feel the Sound.”"
