REVIEW: Sketches of Courage

“The Denver Brass and Sean Schafer Hennessy performed an epic piece of music that is sure to become a national treasure. Sean's composition for the Denver Brass, Sketches of Courage pays homage to his grandfather, and all those who served on the front lines in World War II.

To say Sketches of Courage transported the audience to another place and time is a massive understatement. We were captivated for twenty-seven minutes of musical imagery accompanied by Frank Hennessy's actual sketchbook and soulful narration. Many in the audience openly shed tears as emotions were high.

For those of you who missed these concerts, you are missing some of the best brass performances in the world, happening right here in the Denver area. The talent within this group of musicians is more than enough reason to get out and listen. Then add the amazing compositions of several members, and you have an ensemble worthy of worldwide recognition.”
