Joe Martin
Trombone, Euphonium, Conductor
Joe Martin has performed with Aries Brass Quintet and The Denver Brass since 1991. His leadership and exquisite playing of trombone and euphonium have helped set our high musical standards. Joe’s quick wit and sense of humor keep Denver Brass musicians loose and entertained. Joe hails from northern California where he received his B.M. degree in trombone and euphonium performance from California State University, Northridge. He received his M.M. and D.A. degrees from University of Northern Colorado, and he is Associate Professor at the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver, where he conducts the Lamont Wind Ensemble. A highly sought after free-lance player, Joe has played with the Central City Opera, Opera Colorado, Colorado Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Cheyenne Symphony, Colorado Festival Orchestra, Colorado Ballet, and Broadway shows at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA). As a member of the Aries Brass Quintet, Joe has traveled throughout the world on concert tours. He is heard on 30+ Aries and Denver Brass CDs.
Joe and his wife Lisa, a professional oboist and pediatric nurse, have two beautiful daughters, Chloe and Gracie. Their family also includes Lab/Golden Retrievers Sophie and Jesper. Joe applies his high standards to all aspects of his life - particularly fitness. He is an avid runner and likes to compete in triathlons during the summers - in fact, after winning a local off-road triathlon, he was invited to participate in the USA National Olympic Championship Triathlon in 2016.
