Brass and Organ: Pedal to the Metal
Buckle up - the Denver Brass is tuning up for another high octane performance. What will these guys and gals of the Denver Brass come up with now? “Brasscar” of course – and this show is sure to get your motor running. Their November concerts at Bethany Lutheran Church will be “Brass and Organ: Pedal to the Metal” and they are assured to be flat out exhilarating. The checkered flag will come down on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 and Sunday November 22 at 3:00. The guest driver will be Joe Galema, former organist for the US. Air Force Academy Chapel. The engine will be the Bethany Schantz organ with a 3 manuals, 48 ranks , 3200 pipes and the car will be “#35 Denver Brass” named after the Denver Brass’ 35th Emerald Anniversary season.
The high powered Denver Brass consists of 11 brass and 2 percussionists with as many as 20 different trumpets from the big guys to the little piccolo – that’s a lot of down-force! Hopefully crashes will be kept at a minimum as this is a finely tuned ensemble that always runs on all cylinders! The race will consist of 11 laps starting with the famous Bach, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and include Moussorgsky’s, “Pictures at an Exhibition;” Wagner’s famous “Ride of the Valkyries; “Respighi’s, “Pines of Rome;” and the splendid Widor, “Toccata.”
