2017 Holiday BrassFest This Weekend!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way to the 2017 version of Denver Brass’ annual BrassFest holiday celebration where bells of all shapes and sizes will be jingling holiday favorites. If you are a brass player of any level, we invite you to come jingle with us!

Over 100 current, former and aspiring brass players of all ages, from 8 to 98, will participate in this, the 22nd straight year of BrassFest. Anyone who plays, or has played, a brass instrument sometime in their lives can dust off their trumpets, French horns, baritones, trombones, or tubas to be part of this spirited Denver Brass tradition.

It all happens at the Denver Performing Arts Complex in Downtown Denver this Saturday, December 2. Registration will begin in the Studio Lofts at 1400 Curtis Street, Denver, CO 80202 at 10:30 and rehearsal will take place from 11:00-12:00, followed by a one-hour performance outside in the plaza beginning at 1:00pm.

For returning veteran performers of BrassFest, registration is only $10. For rookies or those who have “misplaced” their music, songbooks will be available for an additional $10 charge. The free concert will alternate between the mass brass ensemble, including all BrassFest attendees performing together, the 14-piece Denver Brass who will present our own set at the concert and help out as coaches and mentors at the rehearsal.

We’ll be under the glass atrium of the DPAC, so snow or rain won’t be a factor. In the past we have had some pretty cold temperatures, freezing trombone slides and brass valves, but this year the forecast is sunny with temps in the mid 60s. Yay - no frostbite this year!

We always get great stories from BrassFest each year, but one secret that many of you probably won’t know is that there were actually two brass players who met Denver Brass for the first time at BrassFest as youngsters and grew up to become top professionals and members of the Denver Brass! This event is a “family and friends” affair, where groups often come together for a day of fun. We even have several brass players who come from out of town and out of state each year, to travel to Denver to be part of the holiday fun too!

So get out the horn, oil the valves, grease the slides and pre-register today online at https://denverbrass.org/holiday-brassfest or call us at 303-832-HORN (4676).
